Show Description
Geetha’s Natyalaya is an Indian Classical Dance School based in Townsville. Geetha’s Natyalaya has been part of the North Australian Festival of Arts since 2021. In this show Geetha’s Natyalaya’s students aged from 7 to 64 will be performing Indian classical/semi-classical/folk dances. The performance will be based on one of the oldest and most popular Indian classical dance styles called Bharathanatyam. In this dance, the dancer communicates ideas through unique hand and facial gestures, and specific body turns and movements. This dance style is known for its grace, elegance, expressions, and sculptural postures. The performers will be in beautiful traditional costumes and jewellery dancing to Indian classical and folk music.
