Description
HEXADECA is a participatory work empowering audiences to engage with art through tactile play.
This music making playground uses sensor technology to trigger sound and light, inviting the public to become the conductor.
As the audience spin in the bespoke glowing seats, they activate portions of a musical score, only revealing the soundscape in its entirety when each seat is occupied.
The joy that exudes from HEXADECA is universal. It transcends generational, socio-economic, and cultural barriers, providing space for indulgent play and an authentic collective experience.
HEXADECA was commissioned by WOMADelaide and premiered in the 2022 festival to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. In the works first year it received a Merit Award at the 2022 Designers Australia Awards and has toured across the country to festivals, town squares and public spaces, most notable of which was a ten-day stint in Fed Square as a core element of the 2022 Melbourne Fringe Festival program and presentation in Darwin Festival.
